I am a firm believer that no matter how crazy things are in the world, it is still important to share moments with the ones we love. For me, I like to do that with desserts, maybe with coffee, maybe at a park, maybe after a family dinner, but shared with the ones I love and that mean so much to me. I think cannoli are one of the most perfect food creations of all time and one of the most common phone calls we received after all of the telemarketing phone calls is the one where we are asked if we make cannoli. We actually have a clause in our lease that prevents us from frying anything which is the only reason we don’t make cannoli, because I would refuse to purchase shells fried in some factory which honestly is probably what most of us are used to. Anyway, the other day I had this idea to take a croissant and fill it with cannoli filling. I tried it, it is delicious so now you can have one too! House made cannoli cream made with ricotta impastata, powdered sugar, home made candied orange peel, hand chopped dark chocolate, vanilla, and just a touch of cinnamon. Of course we dip the ends into chopped pistachios and garnish with more candied orange peel and those amazing luxardo candied cherries.
