When I was a kid I had friends that were into boy scouts, some that were into trading cards, but I was into snack cakes and studied diligently the aisles of the grocery store. Little Debbie, Hostess, Sara Lee, Entenmann’s. I viewed them as some view the literary giants of the world, creating small sweet worlds for me to live in, if even just for a few bites. Our new lugra bar is the closest I have come to packaging a cake and putting it on the shelf. We start with a rich moist buttery hazelnut cake gently kissed with orange zest and add pieces of roasted Italian hazelnuts and super creamy French milk chocolate. After baking we cover it with chocolate and sprinkle with with crushed hazelnuts. It doesn’t sound like all that much, but sometimes the simple things are worth fighting for.
